At 8:00 p.m., we turned off our lights for one hour. "Earth Hour" was created by the World Wildlife Fund last year in Sidney, Australia (learn more by visiting http://www12.earthhourus.org. According to ComEd, there was a 5% reduction in electric usage in Chicago between 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. tonight. It's a start. Be a good stewart of the earth God created.

I wanted to participate but was out of town and forgot!

I read in the Tribune today that COM ED compared the energy rates of earth hour with the saturday before at the same time and adjusted its statement to say that energy demand was decreased by 7% !!!

oswald: I wish I could read German (and Spanish, French, Italian ...).

jessica: I'm not the greenest person either, but I'm doing little things here and there and getting my family to be conscious of leaving lights on, not being wasteful, etc.

sarah: The great thing is that we don't have to wait for the next Earth Hour to roll around. We can practice conservation every day.
